Oct. 19: Significant Reroutes for Marathon

Buses Reroute for Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 19

On Saturday, Oct. 19, RideKC will reroute buses throughout Kansas City for the Kansas City Marathon. Please see details below. Organizers expect thousands of runners to participate in the race that travels through the Plaza, Westport, midtown, Crossroads, downtown, Jazz District, Brookside and Waldo. For information about the marathon, visit www.sportkc.org/marathon. Street closures will begin at 5 a.m. and the race begins at 7 a.m. Streets will reopen, and buses will return to regular routes as the race clears the affected areas. 47th between Oak and Rockhill is the start and finish line; it will close Friday before the race and remain closed throughout the entire marathon.

Main MAX: Southbound buses will travel the regular route to 12th and Grand, go east on 12th, south on Charlotte, west on Truman, south on Grand west on 20th, contine west onto Southwest Blvd., south on Summit, continue south onto Southwest Trafficway, west on 38th, west on 38th, south onto Summit, west on 39th, south on State Line, east on 63rd St., and south on Brookside to resume regular route. Northbound buses will travel the regular route to 63rd and Brookside, west on 63rd St., north on State Line, east on 39th St., north on Southwest Trafficway, continue north on Summit, east on Southwest Blvd., continue east on 20th St., go north on Grand, east on Truman, north on Holmes, west on 9th, and north on Grand to resume the regular route. Expect delays at 11th and Grand, Southwest Blvd. and Broadway, 63rd and Ward Parkway.

Troost MAX via 3 Trails: Southbound buses will travel the regular route to 11th and Broadway, go south on Broadway, east on 12th, south on Charlotte, east on 25th, south on Troost, east on Brush Creek, wouth on Paseo, west on 59th St., and south on Troost to resume the regular route. Northbound buses will travel the regular route to 59th and Troost, go east on 59th St., north on Paseo, west on Brush Creek, north on Troost, west on 25th St., north on Holmes, west on 9th Street, south on Main, west on 11th, and layover at 11th and Central. Expect delays at 12th and Wyandotte, 12th and Oak, 13th and Wyandotte, 13th and Oak, 18th and Holmes, 18th and Charlotte, Armour and Troost, and 75th and Troost.

Troost MAX via 75th and Troost: Southbound buses will travel the regular route to 11th and Broadway, go south on Broadway, east on 12th, south on Charlotte, east on 25th, south on Troost, east on Brush Creek, south on Paseo, west on 59th St., south on Troost, east on 73rd St., south on Paseo, west on 74th St., to layover at 74th and Troost. Northbound buses from 74th and Troost will go north on Troost, east on 59th St., north on Paseo, west on Brush Creek, north on Troost, west on 25th St., north on Holmes, west on 9th Street, south on Main, west on 11th, and layover at 11th and Central. Expect delays at 12th and Wyandotte, 12th and Oak, 13th and Wyandotte, 13th and Oak, 18th and Holmes, 18th and Charlotte, Armour and Troost, and 75th and Troost.

Prospect MAX: Northbound buses will travel the regular route to 11th and Charlotte, continue north on Charlotte, west to Admiral, south on Main, west on 11th St, to lay over at 11th and Central. Southbound buses will continue west on 11th, go south on Broadway, and east on 12th to resume regular route. Expect delays at 7th and Walnut, 11th and Wyandotte, 12th and Wyandotte, and 12th and Oak.

9 9th Street, 11 Northeast-Westside, 12th Street: Eastbound buses will travel the regular route with delays. Westbound buses take the regular route to 11th and Charlotte, go north on Charlotte, west on Admiral, south on Main, and west on 11th to resume the regular route. Expect delays at 12th and Wyandotte, 12th and Oak, 7th and Walnut, and 11th and Wyandotte.

18 Indiana: Northbound buses will travel the regular route to 18th and Brooklyn, go north on Brooklyn, west on Truman Road, north on Troost, west on 12th, north on Charlotte, west on Admiral, south on Main, and west on 11th to resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel the regular route to Truman Road and Troost, go east on Truman, south on Brooklyn, and east on 18th to resume the regular route. Expect delays at 7th and Walnut, 12th and Oak, 11th and Wyandotte, and 12th and Wyandotte.

23 23rd Street: Eastbound buses will travel the regular route with delays. Westbound buses will travel the regular route 13th and Holmes, go north on Holmes, west on 9th, south on Main, and west on 11th  to resume the regular route. Expect delays at 9th and Walnut, 11th and Wyandotte, 12th and Wyandotte, and 12th and Oak.

24 Independence: Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to 11th and Charlotte, and go north on Charlotte to resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel the regular route to Admiral and Charlotte, go south on Charlotte, and east on 12th to resume the regular route. 

25 Troost: Northbound buses will travel the regular route to 59th and Troost, east on 59th St., north on Paseo, west on Brush Creek, and north on Troost to resume regular route. Southbound buses will travel the regular route to Brush Creek and Troost, go east on Brush Creek, south on Paseo, west on 59th St., and south on Troost to resume the regular route. Expect delays at 75th and Troost, Armour and Troost, and 18th and Troost.

27 27th Street: Eastbound buses from layover will go east on SW Boulevard, east on 20th, south on Grand, east on Pershing, north on McGee, east on 22nd, south on Charlotte, east on 25th, south on Troost, and east on 27th to resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 27th and Troost, go north on Troost, west on 25th, north on Holmes, west on 22nd, south on McGee, west on Pershing, north on Grand, west on 20th, west on SW Boulevard, south on Summit, west on 25th, and east on SW Boulevard to layover. Expect delays at 27th and Paseo, and SW Boulevard and Broadway.

31 31st Street: Eastbound buses will travel the regular route with delays. Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 31st and Gillham Plaza, go south on Gillham Plaza, east on Linwood, and north on Gillham, and east on 31st to lay over. Expect delays at 31st and Paseo.

35 35th Street: Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 35th and Woodland, go north on Woodland, west on Linwood, south on Gillham, west on Armour, south on Warwick, west on 39th, south on Southwest Trafficway, continue south on Belleview, east on 45th, north on Madison to lay over at 44th and Madison. From the layover, eastbound buses will continue north on Madison onto Southwest Trafficway, east on 39th, north on Warwick, east on Armour, north on Gillham, east on Linwood, south on Woodland, east on 35th to resume the regular route. Expect delays at Westport and Southwest Trafficway, 39th and Broadway, and Linwood and Paseo.

47 Broadway: Eastbound buses will take the regular route to 12th and Charlotte, go east on 12th, through East Village Transit Center, south on Charlotte, west on Truman Road, south on Grand, west on 20th, continue west Southwest Blvd., south on Summit, continue south on Southwest Trafficway, west on 38th, south on Summit, east on 39th, south onto 71 Hwy. South to Cleaver II exit to resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel the regular route to Cleaver II and 71 Hwy.
