New RideKC Freedom On-Demand App Available Now

DEAR RIDEKC FREEDOM ON-DEMAND CUSTOMER:

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority has some exciting news for our paratransit customers that use our RideKC Freedom On-Demand service throughout the region.  We are pleased to announce that we will be transitioning to a new reservations, scheduling and dispatch software platform for RideKC Freedom On-Demand. This change will include all customers that utilize Freedom On-Demand in Kansas City, MO, Unified Government/Wyandotte County, Johnson County, KS and Independence, MO. The transition will allow us to improve our customer service. The go-live date is July 30, 2024.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

RideKC Freedom On-Demand

The current RideKC Freedom app that is currently for Apple and Android users has been discontinued effective July 20, 2024. The new app is available now for download, and RideKC Freedom On-Demand users can begin booking trips on the app on July 30, 2024. To schedule On-Demand trips during July 20 through July 30 customers will need to use the reservations phone line at 816-842-9070 and select Option 4 for reservations.

Freedom On-Demand will continue to be a curb-to-curb service for eligible customers. The fare structure will remain the same: $5 for the first 5 miles and $2 for each additional mile. It will become a shared ride service. This is to increase the reliability of the service.

Although we do not anticipate any issues, our new software provider, RideCo, will be on hand with reservations and scheduling/dispatch to handle any unforeseen problems.
